LR4 SO/40 is the limiter that lies at the foundation of Instant Mastering. It wasn't created out of commercial necessity, but from curiosity and play: the desire to understand and recreate a modern, intelligent limiter capable of bringing a track to a professional level without destroying its identity.

The idea started from modern limiters, like those in Ozone, which "think" before applying limiting. We wanted something similar: a limiter that analyzes music before intervening, not one that brutally cuts peaks. 🧠

LR4 SO/40 works on four zones of sound — lows, bass, mids, and highs — treating each part exactly as much as needed. Tracks that already sound good are left untouched. Those that need help are corrected discretely, until they reach a pleasant and powerful balance.

The goal is not to destroy the dynamics or character of a track, but to make all music sound like it's from the same movie: the same volume level, the same impact, and the same clarity, regardless of source.

The process is more careful and more intense than in a regular limiter. That's why LR4 SO/40 masters one track at a time. It's a conscious choice: more analysis time means a better result. ⚡
