As a DJ, I spent years working inside heavy professional DAWs — Cubase, Studio One, and others. Powerful tools, no question — but completely over-engineered for what I actually needed day to day.
My problem was simple: radio edits of tracks that came with no drums at the intro. In a DAW, solving that meant navigating complex routing, expensive licenses, and steep learning curves just to move a segment a few bars to the right. It shouldn't take that long.
So I built MusicEdit. A focused, fast tool where I can import a track, slice it precisely on the beat grid, drag sections where I want them, and drop in the stems I need — vocals here, drums there. Then I added built-in drum kits so I could lay down kicks, snares, and hats right on the grid — exactly where the track needed them, no external tools required. No noise, no bloat.
It was made for me. And it turns out a lot of DJs needed exactly the same thing. ✨
